Description: Hike and Yoga in Shangri-la
Mt. San Jacinto Wilderness / Palm Springs Aerial Tramway
Join us for an interesting mix of cross-country hiking and wilderness yoga/meditation in the pristine forest of the San Jacinto Wilderness. Starting from the Ranger Station, we’ll hike up the Low Trail for a bit and then start our cross-country ascent into the Shangri-la section of the park. After exploring some new areas of interest (and old favorites), we’ll settle into a secluded forested section for our yoga/meditation workshop in the shade. Refreshed and re-balanced, we’ll hike back to the Tram for the return ride down to our cars. Karen Salgado, one of the desert's leading yoga instructors, will join us on our hike and will lead us through our yoga and meditation session. A cash donation of $20 per participant to cover Karen’s costs and time would be appreciated.
Space is limited. Please register to reserve a spot, sign the electronic waiver, and receive any last-minute updates.
Focusing on gentle and restorative postures after our hike, beginner Yogis and Yoginis are welcome. The off-trail portion of the hike, however, requires participants have prior hiking experience at high altitude. We’ll be hiking on- and off-trail with our yoga mats, ground tarp, and other gear in our knapsacks. Having the proper gear is essential to ensure a safe and pleasurable experience for all (see equipment list below for details).
