Weekly Monday Night Hikes

Hike up Griffith Park to experience amazing views of Los Angeles within an easy stroll away!

Every Monday at 6:00 p.m. sharp, the Monday Night Hike group meets at the Griffith Park Commonwealth entrance. There’s no need to register, the hike is free to anyone wishing to participate. If it rains after 4:30 PM, the hike is canceled.

The hike starts at the Commonwealth entrance to Griffith Park, which is at the top of Commonwealth Avenue, up from Los Feliz Boulevard. We go a short way up Commonwealth Canyon Drive and then turn right on Vista Del Valle Drive. Our first stop is at Cedar Grove. We continue past the water tower to the helicopter pad, for our second stop. Next is a hike up Hogback Trail to a bridge for another stop, then return back to helicopter pad and down Riverside Trail which brings us to the golf course and a left turn on Commonwealth Canyon Drive leading back to our starting point.

The views are great! From the helicopter pad is a 180 degree view, from Glendale to the high rise buildings in Downtown, Century City, Westwood, and the Miracle Mile.

Gary Cleff is the hike leader. Any additional questions about the hike or where to meet, contact him at (323) 314-7143 or at MondayNightHike-LA@GreatOutdoors.org
