Hike up Griffith Park to experience amazing views of Los Angeles within an easy stroll away!
We meet at Griffith Park every Monday at 6:00 PM sharp. There’s no need to register and the hike is free to anyone who would like to participate. If it rains after 4:30 PM, then the hike is canceled. After this easy hike, we'll meet at a restaurant for dinner.
Starting at the Charlie Turner trailhead, this hike is 2.5 miles with an elevation change of about 1,000 feet. The views are great! On a clear day, you can see Catalina Island and the high rise buildings in Downtown, Century City, Westwood, and the Miracle Mile. You can park at the Griffith Park Observatory's parking lot adjacent to the trailhead. Get there early to ensure close spot. Parking is also available on the roads leading to the parking lot, but the walk to the trailhead will all be uphill! There is no fee for parking or to enter the park.
NOTE: Until further notice, the hike will begin at the entrance to the park on Commonwealth Avenue about half a mile north of
Los Feliz Boulevard due to work on the observatory parking lot.
Gary Cleff is the hike leader. Any additional questions about the hike or where to meet, contact him at (323) 314-7143 or at MondayNightHike-LA@GreatOutdoors.org
