Long Beach Water Taxi
to Shoreline Village

Cruise Long Beach’s scenic harbor aboard the AquaLink boats from Alamitos Bay Landing to Aquarium Dock 4 for a cool afternoon adventure. Departing at 2:00 pm, the AquaLink boat provides a relaxing 30-minute ride between Alamitos Bay Landing and downtown Long Beach’s Shoreline Village with food and drink service available all for $5 per ride one-way.
After departing from the AquaLink boat near the aquarium, we will walk to the Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve Park about one half mile away for a view of a local natural area.
A short note about the GSMBRP:
This site is south of the original shoreline of Long Beach on an area accreted from sediment washed down the Los Angeles River and deposited at it mouth after the mouth of the river was channelized and the mouth repositioned in 1921.
Originally beach area and part of Palm Beach Park, the shoreline was stabilized with rock, and a boat launching ramp and parking lot created in the early 1950s. Continued silt build up closed the launch ramp in the early 1990s.
In 1997, construction began to convert the launch ramp and parking lot into 6.4 acres of intertidal and sub tidal wetlands habitat as mitigation for the conversion of 20 acres of Shoreline Park into the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Rainbow Harbor commercial/recreation attraction.
The Golden Shore Marine Biological Reserve was specifically mitigation for the impact on the salt-water lagoon that was converted to Rainbow Harbor recreational boating area.
The mitigation was necessary because Shoreline Park had been developed with funding from the Land & Water Conservation Fund. Interpretative signage and viewing scopes were added in 2008 with a California State San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy grant.
On the return walk we can stop at Parker’s Light House restaurant for happy hour on the harbor across from the Queen Mary. Food and drink purchases are optional and paid by member.
In addition, Shoreline Village offers a wide selection of other waterfront restaurants and shops for beach wear, casual clothing, sunglasses, shoes and sandals, and home decor.
The return ride aboard the AquaLink (another $5) leaves from Aquarium Dock 4 at 5:00 pm and arrives back at Alamitos Bay Landing about 6:00 pm after a quick stop at the Queen Mary.
Free parking is available in the designated long-term area at Alamitos Bay Landing near the Ballast Point restaurant. AquaLink boarding begins 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
Boarding is on a first come, first serve basis and boats often meet full capacity, so please come early to be in line to ensure your place.
Reminder: Fare is $5 each-way.

Notes for the AquaLink Ride:
- AquaLink Travel Notice: All customers will be asked to deboard at Aquarium Dock 4 after 3:00 p.m. due to a scheduled crew break.
- AquaLink boarding begins 15 minutes prior to departure times. Please plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your planned departure time.
- AquaBus boarding begins 10 minutes prior to departure times. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your planned departure time.
- Boarding is on a first come, first board basis and boats often meet full capacity.
- Service is subject to weather conditions. To confirm if service is operating, please call Customer Care at 562.591.2301 or check LBT’s Twitter for more information.
- Strollers, bikes and wheelchairs are welcome aboard both vessels. However, space is limited on the AquaBus.
- Food and beverages are available for purchase on the AquaLink. View the full menu.
- If you plan on paying fare with cash, ensure you have exact change before boarding. Water Taxi crew is not able to make change.

- Service animals are permitted aboard Water Taxis. Companion animals are also permitted aboard if they are secured in an appropriate carrier.
