PS - Hike: Big Morongo Canyon Trail

Big Morongo Canyon

This is a downhill hike from the Morongo Canyon Preserve to the Desert Hot Springs area. The trail winds through the canyon with the terrain gradually changing from lush vegetation to dry desert. Since this is a one way hike, car shuttles will be used.

Elevation Gain: 30 ft.

Hiking Time: 3.5 hours

Trail Type: Dirt then rocky stream bed

Difficulty Rating: Moderate 

Meeting is at 6:50 AM (for 7:00 AM departure) in the parking lot next to Carl's Jr, at the corner of N. Palm Canyon and Racquet Club in Palm Springs, enter on Racquet Club click here

Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging your own transportation or ride share. Carpool transportation is at the sole risk of the participants.  Drivers who do not know the location of the preserve should look at this map to the parking lot.

What to bring: Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), lunch/snacks, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.
