Irvine Ranch Conservancy Wilderness Access Day
Saturday January 17, 2026
Red Rock Wilderness
This is a different hike than that of Jan 10th. That was Gypsum Canyon; this is Red Rock Wilderness. It leaves from a different location and requires registration with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy.
It is up to 8 miles of new trails. I have not done it, so it will be a scouting hike. They say it is moderate. They will cancel if rain; but rain is not predicted.
Pre-registration is required with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy at: https://letsgooutside.org/activities/2026/01/17/wilderness-access-day-red-rock-wilderness-21/#register , You may need to create an account with them if you don't already have one. Further info on the hike is available there.
Gates open at 08:00, they say do not get there early. We will meet at 08:30. You should also register with GO so I can notify you if cancelled, and so I can look for you.
They offer a generic warning about Mountain Lions and rattlers, but the rattlers will be in brumation.
PLEASE BRING A SNACK, as we will break after about an hour
