Skyline Route Training Hike #1.1

We have tentatively scheduled a hike on the Skyline route from downtown Palm Springs to the Mount San Jacinto Aerial Tram Station on 10/29/25 (see the GOPS announcement for this event details). A condition for participating in the 10/29 hike to the Tram Station is the completion of 3 training hikes (one of each distance).

Training Hike 1: PS Art Museum to Rescue Station #1 mile point 2.5, 5mi (RT)

Training Hike 2: PS Art Museum to mile point 3.5, 7mi (RT)

Training Hike 3: PS North Lykken Trail Head on Ramon Rd to mile point 5, 10mi (RT)

Each of these hikes will be offered twice in the same week. As noted, these hikes are preparation hikes for the 10/29 event, HOWEVER, they are open to any GO member who has the capability to complete them. You do not need to be approved for the full Skyline route hike in order to complete any or all of them. But, do be aware that the route covered in them includes some of the most strenuous hiking of the full route in terms of elevation gain, sun exposure, vague trails, and possibly high temperatures or strong winds.

Hike 1.1 follows the Art Museum from the PS Art Museum trailhead located in the back NW corner of the smaller parking lot across the street from the parking garage, steeply (very steeply) ascending to the junction with the formal Skyline route and on (also steeply) up to Rescue Station 1.
