We have a great day planned at the beach! You have the options to hike, bike, swim or just hang out under an umbrella.
Though not a meeting, we encourage members to mingle and share your thoughts and ideas for Great Outdoors, especially for the 2026 camping season. These ideas will help us in October at the annual all chapter conference to present and coordinate our campout calendar. Please come and let us know that great idea for a special campout, hike, kayak, bike ride, event, museum, picnic, etc.
Through the generosity of Wallis Annenberg the beach house was developed on the grounds of the former home of Actress Marion Davies, mistress of William Randolph Hearst. Architect, Julia Morgan, constructed the mansion in 1929. It had a 110-room main house! The 7000 square foot guest house and pool are the only structures remaining. Tours of the guest house are from 12:00-2:00 PM. During their lives Wallis Annenberg and Marion Davies gave support to the LGBTQ communities so let’s have a great time in their memories.
12:30- 2:00 PM:
Bike ride to Marina Del Rey, led by John Blasco
Tour the guest house, closes at 2:00 PM. Closed for events.
Swim in the ocean or pool. The pool is $10.00 and closes at 5:00.
If wishing to swim, check in at the office as soon as you arrive as a limited number is allowed.
2:00-4:00 PM Party:
Eat, relax, chat and make new friends.
Great Outdoors will be providing EMPANADAS and a green salad. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack to share, though not required.
4:00 PM Activities:
Hike, Stairways and Bluff, 3 miles, led by Russell.
Swim in the ocean or pool.
Stroll along the shore, it is up to you.
Bring: Snacks to share and your own drinks, beach towel, swimsuit, sun protection, hat, maybe a beach or camping or beach chair, board game.... If going on the hike appropriate shoes, hiking poles, etc.
Parking: $12.00 for the day at the lot adjacent to the Annenberg Beach House. If the lot is full, additional parking lots 8 & 9 (south) and Will Rogers State Beach (north) are within walking distance.

Dogs: Santa Monica prohibits dogs on the beach.
