
Mt. San Jacinto Round Valley Loop Hike

Let the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains inspire you while taking the Round Valley Loop Trail, a moderate 4.5-mile jaunt through Mount San Jacinto State Park. The trail gains 648 feet and is great for hikers searching for a little exercise in the fresh alpine air. It features thickets of oaks and pines, views of the picturesque Round Valley, and short climbs that can be somewhat strenuous for those not accustomed to the higher elevation.

Trail length: 4.5 miles. Difficulty rating: Moderate.
Elevation change (lowest point to highest point: 648 feet)
Hike time: 10am to 2pm
Meeting place/time: Arrive at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway base station at 9:30 am and park ($15). Carpooling is encouraged to save money on parking, and it’s good for the environment. Gather together to take the 10 am tram up to the mountain station. If you cannot make the first tram up due to crowds, please notify the trip leader so I can wait for your arrival on the second tram.

Tramway cost: Pay the fare (~$33.95 to $36.95) to take the 10 am tramway up to the mountain station. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the tramway website.
What to bring: Ten Essentials, water (2 Liters recommended), snacks, hat, sun protection, and layered clothing.
Hiking Requirements: You must be in good physical condition for this hike.
Cancellation: If you cannot make a hike, please notify the trip leader. Please see the refund policy from the tramway for tickets purchased.
Weather Policy: Inclement weather cancels.
Health problems/allergies: Discuss any medical concerns with the hike leader that may affect your ability to complete this hike.
