PS - HIKE: SUNSET HIKE AND DINE

Experience Shangra-La in the cool mountain air on a late summer evening and enjoy the sunset from top of the tram.  We will hike through pine forest in Long Valley to a secluded scenic overlook surrounded by granite boulder formations where few people visit. We will return to the Mountain Station at  6:30 PM for dinner at the Pines Cafe. Ride and Dine ticket applicable.

Meet at Valley Tram Station at 3:30 pm.  We will board the  tram  departing at 4:00 PM. If you need to purchase a ticket or pass, arrive in time to purchase a ticket for the 4:00 pm tram.  

  • Length: 2.5 miles 
  • Type: Out and Back Hiking Time: 2 hours
  • Elev. Gain/(Loss): +350 feet
  • Difficulty: Moderate-, some off trail hiking with uneven rough surfaces and vegetation in granite boulder area
  • Sunset is at 7:16 pm

You are welcome to join us for dinner if you can’t make the hike. Annual and Summer Pass holders receive 10% off regular cost of dinner.

Adult Tram ticket $34.95 Senior $31.95. Ride and dine $41. Parking fee waived for pass holders and local residents. 

The Pines Café offers the Pines Ride and Dine menu. You can get at ticket at 4 pm with the meal beginning at 4:30 pm. 'This is an exceptional culinary journey that combines breathtaking views with a delectable two-course meal. Menu

What to Bring

  • Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 1.5 liters )
  • Sun Protection and layered clothing 
  • Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE).
  • Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required. 
  • Payment for your dinner if applicable.
