Description: This is a combination pleasant 2 hour (86 mile each way) mountain drive and exploratory hike (new to the hike leader). As bonuses, we’ll stop at the Preserve’s visitor center and stop at Julian Pie Company (just across the highway from the Preserve) before heading back to the desert. We are may encounter deer, birds, and cattle, and the vistas are reported to be quite good.

Some shade trees along the route will serve as sun breaks, but be prepared for some very sunny hiking. Poles may be helpful on some of the inclines and declines, but the paths seem to be well maintained and in some cases are current or former two-track trails.
