Signal Hill Scenic Walk

Let's go on a leisurely walk to the top and around Signal Hill to enjoy the city's views!
Optional brunch at El Torito's Mexican Restaurant!
This walk is re-scheduled from Feb. 10 when it was cancelled due to rain.
Let’s discover the Signal Hill trail, a 1.7-mile loop trail atop Signal Hill. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an hour to complete at a leisurely pace. This area is popular for hiking, running, and walking, so we will likely encounter other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. Please clean up after your pet.
We start the walk at the intersection of Cherry Ave and Skyline Drive with an uphill climb to Hilltop Park.
We circle the top of the hill, weaving in and out of local neighborhoods, and take in the stunning views of Long Beach, Palos Verdes, downtown LA, Orange County, and Catalina Island. There are 207 feet of elevation gain on this walk, and there are several short uphill paths on the trail. The walk ends at Cherry Ave. and Skyline Drive at the Home Depot parking lot.
For safety, please walk on the sidewalk, not on the street, and cross the street at crosswalks. Wear comfortable walking shoes and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen), and bring a bottle of water.
The scenic walk is canceled if there is rain or inclement weather.
Meeting place and parking: Home Depot (2450 Cherry Ave. Signal Hill). Meet at the opposite end of Home Depot on the parking lot adjacent to Cherry Ave and Skyline Drive. Michael (Trip Leader) will be there at 8:10 am. We start the walk at 8:30 am.
Optional brunch: El Torito (3301 Atlantic Ave. Long Beach) afterward. All-you-can-eat Mexican brunch, price typically: ~$35/person. Pay on your own. Alcohol is extra. Let me know if you are coming to brunch so I can ask for tables to sit together.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun screen, sun glasses and a liter of water!
