Lovely hike in Joshua Tree National Park through varied desert landscapes with Joshua trees, chaparral and pinyon-juniper scrub. Begins at Lower Covington Flats; includes some easy-to-moderate scrambling down several dry waterfalls in a beautiful canyon.
6 Miles with Elevation gain of 700 feet.
The hike is within the Park, but no entry fee is required for access to our trailhead.
We will meet at 8:30 am in the Village Center shopping plaza (56865 – 29 Palms Hwy) in Yucca Valley in front of the Big Lots store. We will car pool/caravan to the trailhead from there. This includes a 9-mile drive along La Contenta Rd., a dirt road with some rough/poorly graded sections.
