Indian Canyons includes some of the ancestral lands of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. A Tribal Ranger will guide us through Palm Canyon’s grove of Washingtonia filifera (California fan palm), sharing information about native animals and the plants the Cahuilla used for food, medicine, and shelter. We will see Cahuilla shelter reconstructions and grinding stones used in preparing food. The tribe has been protecting their lands and culture for centuries, achieving a designation on the National Register of Historic Places. Web: https://www.indian-canyons.com/indian_canyons
