OCLB - Urban Walk across the Long Beach International Gateway Bridge

Meet at the corner of West Seaside Way and Golden Shore in Long Beach (Click here for Map)

The new Mark Bixby Memorial Bike Path and Walkway is now open. The walk is easy/moderate and is 4.8 miles round trip. We will start at the corner of West Seaside Way and Golden Shore in Long Beach (Click here for Map). There is free two hour parking at the in a few spots at the Golden Shore Marine Reserve (Click here for Map). At the Aquarium of the Pacific, parking is $6 for 2½ and $8 for 4 hours (Click here for map).

Along the walkway, we will pass pictures pointing out local and distant landmarks, as well as prose about the history of methods of crossing the harbor. On a clear day the views from the crest of the bridge are excellent.

After returning to the East end of the bridge, people are free to return home or share a lunch at one of the fine local restaurants in the area.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, sun screen, sun glasses, hat and a liter of water.
