THE SLOT CANYON EXPERIENCE

Wander through four or five beautiful slot canyons in Mecca Hills.  The first canyon will be one that I came up on a few years ago and showed no evidence of recent human traffic.  Unfortunately, now it has been discovered and ladders added to make it more accessible.  These slot canyons are not part of the well-known Painted Ladder Canyon Loop. When not hiking in the slot canyons the hike goes through wide open spaces with exotic rock formations of various colors and interest. Some slots will require climbing up small rock chutes, over boulders or under. If you have severe claustrophobia this hike most likely is not for you unless you are willing to wait for those doing the squeeze to return. This is a fun adventure so come and enjoy the exerience.

Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), lunch/snacks, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required. 

Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share.
