This place is the stuff of camping dreams…starry nights, huge scale rocks, great hikes, beautiful sites and beautiful views. Explore nearby trails that traverse the boulders and visit some historical sites hidden by time and desert climate. We have reserved the most popular and best sites located among the largest boulders and includes the 'cove' sites. Walk up the boulders for best views overlooking the surrounding desert!
Registration Members Only - Prices are based upon you being a Great Outdoors member. To join and purchase a membership: click here. Members from other chapters should contact our GOPS Webmaster (click here to email) to be added to our Chapter's website to enable registration for our events. Each person going must complete a separate registration.
Registration notes: Parking space is limited. Consider ride-sharing. RV driver must select a site that is long enough to accommodate both their rig and any tow vehicle. If you are bringing a tow vehicle, please indicate at time of registration. This includes if you are towing a trailer behind your vehicle. We need this information to assign sites. Tent campers may share a site with RV if parking space is available at the site. Parking for tent is limited to standard size vehicle. RV's select site size that your rig and tow will fit into. Select your registration that conforms to the following definitions.
RV is a vehicle designed as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel or season use. RVs may be motorized (motorhomes) or towable (travel trailers, folding camping trailers and truck campers).
Tent: a collapsible shelter of fabric stretched and sustained by poles and used for camping.

CARPOOLING ENCOURAGED - LIMITED PARKING SPACES - please be sure to indicate if you are in a carpool for this event when you register. Glen S. who lives in Joshua Tree Village MAP CLICK HERE has offered secure parking at his place for carpooling. Contact Scott if interested.
Amenities: Vault toilets, tables, fire ring. NO WATER - BRING DRINKING WATER, Showers and camp supplies available at town of Joshua Tree, Coyote Corner.
Trails: Skull Rock, Crown Point Lookout, Samuelson Rocks, Live Oak and Ivanpah Tank, Split Rock, Twin Tanks, John's Camp, Lucky Boy Loop, Queen mine.
What to Bring: PLENTY OF WATER, Ten Essentials, camp chair, camping/cooking gear, food, warm/cool weather clothing, day pack for hiking, potluck item, firewood, ear plugs for sleeping and your name tag.
Directions: Jumbo Rocks Campground is centrally located along Park Boulevard. The campground is approximately 12 miles from Twentynine Palms and 21 miles from the town of Joshua Tree. MAP CLICK HERE
