Bring your binoculars as we explore this island of desert greenery in the heart of the Joshua Tree National Park where pine trees grow in and among the rocks and boulders for which the park is known.  Once we reach the Pine City boulder area, the trail leads to an overlook of a deep ravine--the Pine City Canyon--which may offer an option for some moderate boulder scrambling.  Once a small mining area, only a few collapsed mines are all that remain.
