The Maynard Mine Trail rises on a steep ridge above Murray Canyon in the Agua Caliente Indian Canyons on the west side. The rugged trail leads to an abandoned tungsten mine from World War II.
Admission to the Indian Canyons, 38520 S. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs - click here, is $7 for seniors (62+) and $12 for other adults. Bring exact change.
Park at the Andreas Canyon parking area and look for signs to Maynard Mine.

Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), trail snacks. Sun protection and layered clothing are recommended. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Hiking poles may be helpful.
Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.
Rated Strenuous - will generally be challenging for an unconditioned person. The terrain will involve a steady and often steep incline.
