  • Mishe Mokwa Trailhead, Santa Monica Mountains

For this month's Second Saturdays hike, our friend Chris Fava from the Great Outdoors Santa Barbara/Ventura County Chapter will be leading a hike to Sandstone Peak, so we're joining in the fun! The Mishe Mokwa Trail hike to Sandstone Peak is a classic Top 10 LA hike, and if you've never been, you'll love it. Lots of variety, beautiful views and a great introduction to the Santa Monica Mountains. Sandstone Peak (3111 ft) is the highest point in the Santa Monicas.

These are ancestral native lands of the Chumash and Micqanaqa’n.

Feb. 12: Great Outdoors SBVC - Day Hike: Sandstone Peak

Parking: Mishe Mokwa Trailhead parking lot (google map link). Google Maps App Tip: Ahead of time, always save an offline map of the area to your phone, and save the parking lot pin above, to make sure you have the exact directions even if you lose cell signal.

We highly recommend carpooling and getting there early. This is a popular trailhead and parking may be limited.

Feel free to bring your lunch if you want to eat up at Sandstone Peak, or after the hike join others at Neptune's Net, Malibu (~15 min. drive)

On past trips we've even spotted local wildlife.

Woof! Right, doggie?
