Hike to a ridge and down into a rocky canyon with dry waterfalls to a Railroad Museum.

  • Difficulty Rating: Moderate - good balance needed to negotiate over, around and down steep rocky areas

Located near the West entrance to Joshua Tree Park this hike enters a canyon and stream drainage through interesting geological boulders. We will be hiking to the Joshua Tree Southern Railroad Museum and Narrow Gauge Railroad located at the end of the canyon which is very interesting.

Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (2 to 3 liters recommended), trail snacks/ lunch. Sun protection and layered clothing are recommended. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Hiking poles may be helpful.

Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.

Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share. Arrive a few minutes early for briefing and carpooling.  Distance to trailhead is 50 miles, about 1 hour.

Weather Forecast: Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Breezy, with a west wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
