Meeting Location: Trailhead behind the Palm Springs Art Museum north parking lot.

Description: This is a one-way hike on two popular trails overlooking downtown Palm Springs. We will start by climbing the steep Museum Trail to its junction with the North Lykken Trail, then head gradually south down the mountain slopes to the west end of Ramon Road. The downward trail winds through granite boulders and offers views of the city, the valley and Tachevah Canyon. We will walk east on Ramon Road to lunch at a downtown restaurant.
Length: 2.75 miles of hiking, about 1.25 miles of street walking (unless you arrange your own car shuttle or ride)
Hiking time: 2 hours
Total Elevation Gain/Loss: 900 feet
Difficulty Rating: Moderate plus. Trail is steep and rocky.
Expected time of return: 11:30 AM-12:30 PM depending where you park and whether you join the optional lunch
Parking: DO NOT park in the lot by the Museum Trailhead. There is plenty of free unlimited parking along Belardo Road halfway between the start and the end of this hike. Note that the Downtown Parking Garage that has entrances in front of the Hyatt Hotel and on North Museum Drive has a four-hour time limit.
Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), snacks to eat when we reach the picnic tables at the end of the ascent, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.
Poor weather conditions will cancel this hike.
