PS - Hike: Bogert Trail Sunset

Description: The trail named after Frank Bogert, the former mayor whose statue at City Hall has been in the news lately, offers scenic views of the Andreas Hills, San Jacinto Mountains and south Palm Springs. It is easily accessible from, you guessed it, Bogert Trail Road, which has ample street parking, as does nearby Andreas Hills Drive. This hike is timed to let us enjoy the sunset and relax after Palm Springs Pride WeekendArrive in time to start hiking at 3:30 p.m. Standard Time, the day after we put our clocks back an hour.

Meeting Location: Trailhead 5 miles south of downtown Palm Springs, just past 3756 Bogert Trail: Map click here      

  • Trail Length: 3.8 miles out and back
  • Hiking time: 2.5 hours
  • Total Elevation Gain/Loss: 990 feet.
  • Difficulty Rating: Moderate
  • Expected time of return: 6 p.m.

This trail, well-used by hikers and mountain bikers, is rocky, unshaded, and has a mix of wide flat sections and some steep areas. 

Bring Ten Essentials (click here), water (1 to 2 liters recommended), picnic dinner or snacks, sun protection, layered clothing. Carry Emergency Contact Information (ICE). Sturdy hiking footwear with good tread and adequate drinking water are required.
