A sweet trail in Palm Springs that is often overlooked and can be connected to other trails in the area. This hike will only be the Shannon portion. The hike begins at a parking lot in a wash on Araby Street where the hike begins. The first part of the hike is up the wash about a quarter of a mile before it leaves the wash and makes a number of switchbacks up to the Shannon ridge. Trail along this ridge with a shear drop to desert floor below makes for magnificent views of Palm Springs and the San Jacinto Mountains. The trail then continues up to a peak with a huge rock cairn with a 360 view of the valley and mountains. A perfect place to rest and take pictures before return to parking area on same trail.
