Description:
11:15 AM – We will embark upon a 3 mile (approximate) up and back moderately challenging hike from the ocean cliffs in Palos Verdes Estates Preserve up the Lunada Canyon Trail to Agua Amarga Preserve.
Highlights include stunning ocean views, gradual elevation, and encounters with wildlife. Challenges are steep inclines and rocky terrain. Bring hiking boots and trekking poles for support.
12:30 PM – back at the Paseo Del Mar Bluffs: Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve we will take a break to have a snack/lunch (bring your own food/drink, as well as a lawn chair or towel/picnic blanket – there are no benches).
1:30 PM – After we are done lunching/snacking we will proceed down a steep but doable cliffside path to the rugged shoreline beach of this Preserve. We may see south bound migrating gray whales pass by as they make their annual journey to the warm waters of Mexico from the Arctic.
Joe will provide a short-guided lecture of the geologic and oceanographic features of this stunning coastline shore.
