GOLA GIVES BACK
Great Outdoors Los Angeles is excited to announce the first of our FREE* campouts for our members. This is our way of giving back to our members for all your support throughout the year.
The location we have chosen is Table Mountain near Wrightwood. It’s just a short journey northwest of Los Angeles and provides a beautiful escape from urban life. You will find hiking, mountain biking, swimming and countless other recreation opportunities nearby. Table Mountain is set in a hilly, oak and pine forest with two large meadows and beautiful views. At an elevation of 7,000 feet, summer temperatures average in the low 80s with cool nights. Our campsites have vault toilets and water spigots spaced throughout the campsites. Pets are allowed and must be on a leash and are you responsibility.
A short drive from our campground is Jackson Lake. Here you can swim, fish, launch your own canoe or kayak. This will make a great spot for lunch or just enjoying the scenery. Also nearby is the mountain community of Wrightwood. You’ll find a grocery store, restaurants and shops selling touristy stuff if you care to venture into town.
Itinerary:
- Arrive Friday after 2:00.
- Friday night 6:00-8:00 - Hot dogs and baked beans will be provided for Friday night dinner. Campfire and board games to follow.
- Saturday- breakfast and lunch on your own. Activities of your choice
- Saturday night 6:00 – Taco Night! Chicken and pork tacos will be provided. Campfire and board games to follow.
- Sunday – breakfast on your own. Activities of your choice. Plan on packing up and leaving the campground by 11:00.
Things to bring:
Camping gear, tent, sleeping bag, cooking gear, water containers, bug repellant, food. As always, be sure to bring the 10 Essentials.
Directions from LA:
10, 210 or 60 freeway east to the 15 freeway north. Exit highway 138 (Wrightwood) and turn left. Continue to highway 2 and turn left. Continue through the town of Wrightwood and just past the Big Pines visitor center you will see Table Mountain Road. Turn right and follow the road to the campground. We will be in sites 20-24, 29,31,33-36.
Registration and Carpooling:
This is a free campout for Great Outdoors Los Angeles members in good standing only. You are required to register and pay a $20.00 deposit as a place holder. Your $20.00 will be refunded when you arrive at the campground. Non-members will have to join Great Outdoors Los Angeles before registering for this campout. No refunds will be given for registrations canceled after Friday July 14.
We have 11 campsites and 22 vehicles allowed so we are holding the registration to 25 members at this time. The number of vehicles limits the number of attendees. The more people that carpool with 3 or more per vehicle, the more the maximum number of attendees can be increased. If the trip is sold out, please add yourself to the wait list. Based on the number of vehicles from other registrants, you may still be added to the trip in the order added to the waitlist if we can fit you in. This is a tent only campout due to RVs taking up the space of two vehicles.
