EVENT:
Join us for a bicycle tour down to the ocean from Bixby Park southeast along the shoreline bike path to the Seal Beach pier area. On our ride we'll cruise on the bike path below bluff park into Belmont Shore, over the bridge to Naples Island, and cross over to Alamitos Bay and then across the Orange curtain into the beautiful beach town of Seal Beach. When we get to Seal Beach, we will stop at the River's End park, walk around the coastal scrub and rocks overlooking the end of the San Gabriel River as it empties into the ocean.
We will break for lunch (pack your own) at the park's picnic area. After our break we will then either beach walk for about ½ a mile or ride our bikes over to the Seal Beach Pier. On our way back we will cross back over to Naples island and cycle through the Marine Stadium and Nature Reserve, Colorado Lagoon, and Recreation Park and then back to Bixby park where we began. There will be plenty of time to stop and take in the great views, snap some photos, and relax into the Sunday Long Beach/Seal Beach vibes.
Distance: approximately 12 (leisurely) miles.
Registration for up to 30 people. Free but must register in advance via the GOLA website. Please also sign up for carpooling if you can.
Bring LUNCH, lots of WATER, and sunscreen. Please be prepared to address any repairs needed on your own (bring spare inner tube, portable bike pump, repair kit, call Lyft etc.); trip leader/ group will try to help but may not have the capacity to repair bikes that get flat tires etc.
