PS - Hike: Hayfield Canyon

• 5 Miles, 500’ +/- elevation 
• Rated moderate
• Route: in canyon wash. No trail.
• There is some boulder scrambling at the narrow end of the canyon requiring use of both hands and feet to negotiate over and around large boulders.
• Meet 9:00 am

• Approx. 60 miles drive to trailhead

This remote canyon in the South Eagle Mountains, is one of Joshua Tree National Park’s least visited and very interesting canyons along the southern mountain border of the park. High clearance vehicle required to reach trailhead on dirt/sand road approx 6 miles. This canyon not only offers outstanding geological features but also includes significant historical and cultural features. Our visit will follow the “leave no trace” principals and respect and protect the integrity of the resources. Please do not  post online any  photos with geotags to help protect the natural and historical features present. 

Getting there:  High clearance vehicle to travel 6 miles on unimproved dirt/sand road. Carpooling is encouraged and may be available if offered by driver. You are responsible for arranging you own transportation or ride share. Arrive at the meeting location a few minutes early for briefing and carpooling.
