How to Download Google Maps Offline and Save Favorite Locations

If you use Google Maps on your phone, it's smart to download an offline map of the entire region we'll be travelling in, since cell reception won't be available in most of the forest.  For example, start at "Quaking Aspen campground" in Google Maps on your phone.  Swipe up > click the 3 dots (upper right) >  Download offline map. Zoom out the map to capture the larger region, and Download.

Also in the Google Maps app: Ahead of time, if you search for destinations and trailheads like "Trail of 100 Giants" and save them as favorites, they will appear in your Google Maps.
